1 May: What is Permitted?
Are you wondering what business activity will be permitted from 1st May? Can panel beaters and motor body repairers’ reopen? Read the below Newsflash published by Richard Green, SAMBRA National Director, for some assistance on the matter. Dear SAMBRA Member The government recently announced that our country will move to Level 4 on the 1st of May. Various reference documents have been circulated, the two most applicable in my mind are attached, to guide us on what is permitted in terms of business activity. This is a question which is top of mind for each and every SAMBRA member. Document 1 -titled “Permitted Goods and Services” quite clearly allows, under level 4 clause L3, “Emergency repairs for all persons”. View Document Document 2 is a simple user-friendly indicator detailing which business categories are allowed to operate at a reduced level and those that are still in Lockdown. View Document SAMBRA’s advice to you is as follows: If you have not already done so, obtain your CIPC certificate as an essential service provider. When doing so limit the staff compliment to no more than 50%. Once you have the document, send it to your Insurer business partners, and in the case of […]

Bridging Finance
20
Oct
2019
SAMBRA are regularly approached with proposals pertaining to bridging finance options for our members, with the view to have SAMBRA acknowledge and endorse the bridging finance model / package in some way. We thoroughly analyse each proposal we receive, take all things into consideration and acknowledge that some options are less expensive than others. However, if members are ever to consider this type of finance, they need to fully understand the cost involved and the Application Agreement that they will be expected to sign. The onus remains solely with members to understand the conditions of their bridging finance agreement, incl. the cost implications of the financial model and the consequences of non-compliance. Compliance is very stringent and bridging finance should therefore only be considered in the most extreme of cash-flow circumstances and as a last resort. SAMBRA members are encouraged to rather seek out and consider options available through the banks.
